YMR-11THE DEADLINE FOR OUR YOUTH MAKING RIPPLES STUDENT FILM COMPETITION IS FAST APPROACHING! SUBMIT YOUR FILMS BEFORE DECEMBER 5th, 2014!!

The Beneath the Waves – Youth Making Ripples Film Competition – is an opportunity for K-12 students (< 18 years of age) to use their creative talents and serve as a voice for our oceans. We encourage elementary, middle and high school students to create their own marine related film on a topic of their interest. All submission must be less than 5 minutes. The message of your film can focus on an interesting marine topic, a specific marine related problem or issue, or a call to action for conservation.

For more information on how to submit your films, check out the YMR page.

Flippers, Fins, and Films!

This past week, Beneath the Waves headed to sunny San Diego! The beautiful Living Coast Discovery Center opened it’s doors and aquariums to film goers of all ages. With films ranging in topic from shark conservation to plastic pollution, guests played witness to a wide variety of ocean themes. During intermission, everyone got up close and personal with some of the oceans most majestic creatures getting to feed sharks, hang out with sea turtles, and interact with the many animals that call the Discovery Center home. We proceeded the festival with a panel of seven local scientists from San Diego State University and Scripps Institution of Oceanography. This lead to an engaging conversation as we answered brilliant questions about both local and global ocean issues. All in all a great time was had by all! Check out our fun adventures below!
